Each centre diamond is selected individually for cut, proportion and how it presents on the hand. Starting prices are based on E-F colour, VS1-VS2 clarity and an independently certified centre diamond. Every centre diamond is supplied with its IGI or GIA grading report.
Old mine cuts are chosen for character rather than a uniform modern template. Their softer outlines, deeper proportions and broader faceting mean two stones of the same carat weight can present differently on the hand. We select for face-up spread, balance and personality, not the carat number alone. 'Old mine' describes the cut character; laboratory-grown stones are newly created, while natural stones may be newly cut or antique depending on the diamond selected.
Moval is an elongated hybrid outline that sits between an oval and a marquise. Ratios and facet patterns vary by stone, so we select each centre diamond for its individual proportions rather than to a single fixed measurement.

Every MARLII LAB engagement ring is made to order and crafted by hand in Australia. Please allow 10-12 weeks once your design and centre diamond are confirmed.
The setting is made around the proportions of your chosen diamond rather than pulled from stock or adapted from a finished ring. The timeframe gives the workshop room to make and finish the piece properly, without rushing the details that matter.
