Diamond Engagement Rings 30

We build engagement rings around old mine and antique cut diamonds — stones cut by hand, by eye, for candlelight, long before a machine could calculate the angles. They do not sparkle the way a modern brilliant does. They glow, and they hold their character in a way no grading report has a language for.

The stone is chosen first, always. A setting drawn for an ideal diamond will only ever fit an ideal diamond, and very few of the ones worth having are ideal. So each ring is built to the stone selected for it — to its depth, its outline and the way it carries light.

The range is organised into six series, each a different way of holding a stone: Georgian, low-seated and hand-worked; Four Claw, the most exposed and the hardest to do well; Frames, a fine line of gold drawn around the outline; Sculptural, asymmetric by design; Rope, twisted gold worked by hand; and Trilogy, three stones chosen to sit together rather than to match.

Most carry the MARLII Cutaway — the gallery beneath the diamond sculpted open so light enters from below as well as above. It lets the setting sit lower and still take a flush wedding band. Where a structure depends on the metal being there, we leave it closed.

Nothing is held in stock. Every ring is made after it is chosen, in 18K yellow gold unless you ask otherwise, and sized to you rather than resized down from a stock band. Laboratory-grown and natural stones both, stated in writing every time.

The engagement rings shown here are a small curation of MARLII LAB pieces — a glimpse of antique-cut diamonds, old-world settings and contemporary designs made to feel personal from the beginning. Beyond this edit, a wider selection of rings, stones and bespoke possibilities is available privately, upon request or at our appointment-led viewings.
