The MARLII Cutaway ²⁴

Most settings close the space beneath a diamond. We cut it away.

The gallery is sculpted open so light enters from underneath as well as from above, which does two things: the stone is brighter across its whole face rather than only at the table, and the ring appears to float above the finger instead of sitting on it. From the side — the angle most settings ignore — the profile is the design.

It is not applied to every ring. Where a setting's structure depends on a solid gallery, as the rope and the sculptural pieces do, we leave it closed. Twenty-four of our current settings carry it.
