Rope

Twisted gold, worked by hand, where the band meets the stone.

Rope is old jewellery language. It catches light along its length and softens the junction between band and setting, and because it is worked by hand it never repeats exactly — which is the point of it, and the reason it cannot be cast convincingly.

It is also the one series where the structure depends on the metal being there. The seat is carried in the twist, so these are built closed rather than cut away. We could open them. They would be worse rings.
