The centre carries the weight and the two beside it set the rhythm, which is why we pair shapes rather than repeat one — a marquise beside a pear rather than three of the same cut. Matched trilogies are a modern habit, and they work by making the stones interchangeable. These are the opposite.

Every trilogy is built around the three particular stones selected for it, so no two are dimensionally identical and none can be reordered exactly.
