Warranty
MARLII LAB stands behind the workmanship of every piece we make. Our voluntary warranty covers manufacturing faults for the periods below and operates in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Warranty periods
Engagement and wedding rings
MARLII LAB engagement and wedding rings carry a lifetime warranty against manufacturing faults. To claim under this voluntary warranty, the manufacturing fault must appear during the lifetime of the piece while it remains with the original purchaser or the documented recipient of the original MARLII LAB purchase.
Ready-to-wear jewellery
MARLII LAB ready-to-wear jewellery carries a three-year warranty against manufacturing faults. To claim under this voluntary warranty, the manufacturing fault must appear within three years from the date of the original purchase.
These time periods apply to MARLII LAB’s voluntary warranty only. Rights under Australian Consumer Law may continue independently of, and in some circumstances beyond, the voluntary warranty period.
Complimentary resizing — engagement rings
MARLII LAB engagement rings include one complimentary resize within twelve months of delivery, where the design allows. This is a voluntary service rather than a warranty remedy, and it is offered because an engagement ring is often ordered before the wearer’s size is known.
Some designs cannot be resized without compromising the structure of the piece, including full eternity settings and certain sculptural and rope settings. We will tell you at the time of order whether your ring can be resized and by how much.
This term applies to engagement rings only. Wedding bands are made to the size supplied by the client and are not covered by the complimentary resize; we are happy to quote for resizing where the design allows. Further resizes, and resizes requested after twelve months, are chargeable.
What the voluntary warranty covers
The warranty covers faults arising from the materials or workmanship of the piece that were not caused by ordinary wear, impact, accident, misuse, inappropriate care or unauthorised third-party work.
If MARLII LAB confirms a manufacturing fault during the applicable warranty period, we will repair or replace the affected part or piece at no charge, as reasonably appropriate. If Australian Consumer Law gives you a different or additional remedy, including a right to choose a refund or replacement for a major failure, your statutory rights prevail.
What the voluntary warranty does not cover
Unless the underlying cause is a manufacturing fault, the voluntary warranty does not cover:
- ordinary wear and tear, including surface scratches, small marks and gradual deterioration
- tarnish, oxidation, patina, plating wear or discolouration arising through ordinary use or environment
- chain, clasp or setting damage caused by snagging, impact, external force or wear
- scratched, chipped, cracked or abraded diamonds and gemstones caused by impact, wear or accident
- bent or distorted rings, earrings, claws or settings caused by external force
- damage caused by chemicals, inappropriate cleaning, heat, improper storage or inappropriate wear
- loss or theft
- loss of a stone where visible damage, looseness or wear was not addressed when first noticed
- damage caused or contributed to by repair, maintenance, resizing or alteration undertaken by another jeweller without MARLII LAB’s prior written approval
Accidental or wear-related damage
If your piece is damaged outside the voluntary warranty, please still contact us. We are happy to assess MARLII LAB jewellery and, where possible, provide a repair or replacement quote. No chargeable work will be carried out without your approval.
How to make a warranty claim
Please contact hello@marliilab.com, call +61 435 783 101, or use the MARLII LAB repair portal and provide:
- your name and contact details
- your order or invoice details, or other reasonable proof of purchase
- a description of the issue and when you first noticed it
- clear photographs or video where helpful
We will review the information and, where an in-person assessment is required, provide instructions for returning or presenting the piece. Claims may be sent to MARLII LAB, 191A Victoria Square, Adelaide SA 5000, but please contact us before posting jewellery so we can provide secure return instructions.
Expenses associated with a warranty claim
Where MARLII LAB authorises a return for a potentially covered warranty claim, we will arrange return freight or reimburse reasonable documented return-shipping costs if the claim is accepted. If an assessment determines that the issue is not covered by the voluntary warranty or Australian Consumer Law, we will tell you before carrying out any chargeable work and explain any repair or return-shipping costs that may apply.
