The stone is chosen first.

Old-cut and antique-style diamonds, selected individually for spread, proportion and the way they carry light. The ring is then made around that stone, within one of six permanent series.

Australian commissions are made in Sydney. Complete engagement rings begin from AU$5,900, including the centre stone, setting, making and finishing in 18K yellow gold. Natural and laboratory-grown routes are shown clearly before a stone is selected. Most rings require ten to twelve weeks from stone confirmation.

Why the stone comes first.

Two diamonds can share a shape, weight and grade and still present differently in the hand. We select for face-up spread, balance and movement before deciding what the setting has to become.

The profile is the design.

Face-up is one view. The depth of the chosen stone decides the height, gallery, claw position and relationship to the wedding band beneath it.

The MARLII Cutaway.

The gallery is opened beneath the centre stone so light can reach the pavilion, the setting can sit closer to the hand and a straight wedding band can still sit beside it. It is used where the structure benefits from it and left closed where it does not.

Natural or laboratory-grown.

Both are set here. The origin changes; the design standard does not. Every quote states the origin of the proposed stone and includes its documentation where a report exists.

Made singly.

The ring is made after its stone is confirmed. UK commissions are made in the UK; Australian commissions are made in Sydney. Nothing is pulled from a finished ring or adapted around a stone chosen later.

What happens next.

Tell us the shape, complete-ring figure and timing you have in mind. The studio will read the brief, clarify anything that changes the search and invite you to a private daylight stone appointment when the brief is ready.

Tell us what to look for.

Begin with what you know: a shape, a rough size, a complete-ring figure or simply what you do not want. The studio will read the brief and suggest the most useful next step.
